頭のてっぺんから足の爪先まで（from head to toeまたは、from top to toe)、head, face, neckなど体の部分の英語はおなじみかもしれませんが、頭をかく、顔が赤くなるなど英語で言えますか？
ここでは、文字通り頭のてっぺんから足の爪先まで、体の部分やその動きなどを英語でどう言うかをご紹介します。
髪の毛を切る：get a haircut, have a haircut
I got a haircut yesterday.
髪の毛をのばす：grow one’s hair
I haven’t had a haircut for a few months. I’m growing my hair.
枝毛：split ends
フケ：dandruff
頭をかく：scratch one’s head
英語圏では、理解できない時に頭をかく動作をするので、次のような言い方もします。
The difficult puzzle left him scratching his head.
頭痛：a headache
I have a headache.
対応が難しかったり、厄介だったりする問題もheadacheと言えます。日本語の頭痛の種に近いですね。
Covid is a big headache for the travel industry.
顔が赤くなる（恥ずかしくて）：blush
She blushed when a handsome man smiled at her.
顔が赤くなる（怒ったり、興奮したり、とても恥ずかしくて）：flush
His face flushed with anger.
眉をひそめる（嫌な気分になったり、混乱して）：frown
Michelle frowned as she watched the disturbing news.
また、frown on/frown uponは、disapproveという意味で使われます。
Speaking in a library is frowned upon.
目を閉じる：close one’s eye(s)
I wasn’t tired, but I closed my eyes and tried to get to sleep.
ウインクする：wink (at …)
She gave me a cheeky wink.
I winked at her and she winked back.
日本では、ウインクは好意をもった相手に送る合図だと思いますが、英語圏では「秘密だよ」や「冗談だよ」という合図にもよく使います。素敵な人にウインクされても、すぐに大喜びせず、まずは冷静に状況を判断しましょう（笑）。
目が回る（めまいがする）：feel dizzy, feel giddy
I felt dizzy and almost fainted.
roll one’s eyesという表現は、馬鹿げた事にたいして、または、マジ？ありえない！など、呆れた感じの時に使います。日本語の目が回るくらい忙しかったり、めまいがするとは違う意味ですので、気をつけてください。
He rolled his eyes in disbelief.
鼻をかむ：blow one’s nose
Stop sniffling and blow your nose.
イギリス（アメリカなども）では鼻をすする（sniffle)のはマナー違反で、かなり嫌がられます。日本人にとっては、人前で鼻をかむほうがいやな感じですが、郷に入れば郷に従って、 すすらずにかんでください。
鼻をほじる：pick one’s nose
Don’t pick your nose in public.
唇をとがらす：pout
Meg pouted like a spoiled child.
歯ぎりしする：grind one’s teeth
I sometimes grind my teeth while asleep.
舌を出す：stick one’s tongue out
Don’t stick your tongue out, it’s rude.
たんがからむ：have some phlegm
I have some phlegm at the back of my throat.
肩こり：a stiff shoulder
Having a hot bath can relax a stiff shoulder.
手をあげる：raise one’s hand
If you have any questions, please raise your hand.
手をふる：wave
Do you know the girl who’s waving at us?
指をさす：point
Bob pointed at the cute dog and smiled.
親指：thumb
人差し指：forefinger, index finger
中指：middle finger
薬指：ring finger
小指：little finger（アメリカではpinkieとも言う）
爪を切る：clip one’s nails
I clipped my nails because they were too long.
爪切りはnail clippers。
胸焼け：heartburn
Eating fast gives me heartburn.
腹筋：abs (abdominal muscles)
腹筋運動：sit-ups
I usually do 20 sit-ups every morning.
お腹：stomach, belly, tummy
腹痛：a stomachache
I have a stomachache.
おへそ：belly button, navel
へその緒：umbilical cord
腰痛：a backache
I have a backache.
おしり：bottom, behind, bum, backside, rear, etc.
おしりを表す言葉は他にも沢山あります。
ひざ枕の時に頭をのせる部分（座った時に上にくる足の付根と膝の部分）：lap
The cat sat on my lap.
もも（脚の）：thigh(s)
膝をまげる：bend one’s knee(s)
Bend your knees before lifting something heavy.
むこうずね：shin(s)
ふくらはぎ：calf, calves
脚：leg(s)
冗談やウソを言ってからかうという意味で、pull one’s legという表現があります。日本語の「足を引っぱる」という意味ではないので、ご注意ください。
It’s not true. I was just pulling your leg.
アキレス腱：Achilles tendon
裸足：bare feet
足の裏：sole (s)
かかと：heel(s)
足の指：toe(s)
足の爪：toenail(s)
背のびする（つま先で立って）：stand on tiptoe
She stood on tiptoe to reach the shelf.
忍び足する（つま先で歩いて）：tiptoe
I tiptoed to the bathroom so I didn’t wake anyone up.
最後に、head over heels in loveという表現をご紹介します。意味はlove someone very muchです。
Tom fell head over heels in love with Lisa on their first date.
